About Dagger & Grappling

Meyer_1570_Dagger_DDagger is not counted as a main weapon, but all our members are expected to have a basic understanding of dagger and grappling. Dagger and grappling are therefore a natural part of all our training and will mainly be practiced playfull, but intensive warmup exercises in each session, but eventually also with a targeted specialization for those who wish. The sessions will also include some technical exercises where one can then apply the learned techniques as the term progresses.

Equipment-wise the only thing that is needed is a stick, slightly shorter than one’s forearm, or a tightly rolled and taped newspaper. Special training daggers can also be bought. Children and youths practice using no dagger at all and adults too will partly be practicing in this manner. A fencing mask and forearm protection for one arm is also necessary in time.
